The museum’s own timed ticket covers the three permanent exhibitions with contactless entry at a chosen slot. Its listing also carries an Early Access Museum Tour and a Guided Museum Tour, both 60 minutes with a museum guide, and a FLEX ticket for any time on the day. The memorial outside is free anyway.
A guide for the outside, with or without the museum
The Ground Zero walk spends 15 minutes at the Oculus and 75 minutes at the pools and the Survivor Tree with a local guide the listing describes as having personal connections to 9/11. It sells as walk only, walk plus museum entry self-guided, or walk plus a VIP guided museum tour with a museum docent. The observatory walk is the one product that never includes the museum; it adds St. Paul’s Chapel to the route instead.
Adding the view
Three walks offer One World Observatory, on floors 100 to 102 at 1,268 feet, as an option: the full-access walk with museum and observatory together, the observatory walk without the museum, and the City Hall route. Observatory tickets are dated and time-specific on all three.
Small group or private
The small-group walk caps the group at 20 and adds Brookfield Place and the Hudson waterfront to the route, in 1.5 hours plus about an hour for the museum when chosen. Stephen (UK) was in a group of two; Carsta (Germany) ended up on what became a private tour. The observatory walk sells a Private Memorial Tour, with or without the observatory.
Wheelchair users and families
Five of the six are wheelchair accessible; the small-group walk is the exception, and its listing says it is not suitable for people with back problems, mobility impairments or wheelchair users. The museum itself is fully accessible. For families, the museum ticket listing carries two bundles, and the museum does not recommend two galleries for under-10s; the same guidance applies on every walk that includes the museum.
Starting near City Hall
The City Hall route meets at Warren Street and Broadway and takes in St. Paul’s Chapel, Trinity Church, the FDNY Ten House, the Oculus and One World Trade Center before the pools, in 1.5 to 5 hours by option. Reserve now and pay later is available on it.
On every walk that includes the museum, the walking guide stops at the pavilion. Inside, visitors go self-guided or with a museum docent on the VIP option. Booking the docent option is the only way to be led below ground.
